Long-distance move from Goodrich, MI to Loudon, TN

RIP OFF

Quoted $3900 for a 12’X18’ storage locker for a move less than 600 miles. Got to the storage locker and said it would cost approx $1600 additional. Got through loading up and said it would cost an additional $5600. On top of that many items attired damaged or missing.

1 isn’t good enough

We originally put a deposit down withmega van lines. They Subcontracted us out to this company to move our stuff from Ohio to Florida. they picked up our items in Ohio on 7/28 today is December 13 and we just received our items. Numerous items are broken. dining room chair dishes boxes that are marked fragile came all beat up hence the broken items. This company is horrible. Every time I spoke to either Denise or Ashley there was some kind of excuse as to why we weren’t getting our stuff. It was like nobody knew what the other person had told us.

Moving state to state.

Household Hauling is like no other moving company! The customer service is top notch- friendly staff that goes over and beyond to satisfy my needs. All of my things were handled with such care that I feel like it is white glove service! I moved from Miami to Louisiana and the time frame of getting my things was perfect. I highly recommend Household Hauling on your next move no matter where the road or job takes you. You will not be disappointed!

Stay Far Away!! Trust Me!

This was the worst moving experience of my life. They raised my moving quote from the beginning estimate, even though my stuff matched my initial inventory. They told me my stuff would be delivered within 5-10 business days. Well it has been over 30 days, and I STILL haven't received my stuff. They showed no concern or urgency for my situation. Hiring them was the worst thing ever!! STAY FAR AWAY!

Long-distance move from Jacksonville, IL to Blacksburg, VA

One Month Without Our Household Goods.

Household Hauling was subcontracted by Charter Van Lines, who never told us they were't a mover but a broker. Household Hauling showed up on time in mid-February in Central Illinois, and promised an earliest delivery date in Blacksburg, VA on March 1st. That day came and went. Then possibly last week. That came and went. Then Thursday, March 14th. But today they called and said maybe this weekend, but no guarantee because they did not have a truck going our way to accommodate the small load we moved (half of a 26-foot truck). We have been living in an empty apartment with no furniture and sleeping on the floor for two weeks now. We have no confidence that we will ever receive our household goods.

When we call, the customer service person says we have no choice but to wait until someone is heading our way. I am in my 60's and cannot do this move myself. Had I known about the lack of a reasonable deliver date, I would have never used either Charter Van Lines, and now cannot recommend Household Haulers of Hallandale, FL.

They Deserve no Stars.

Household Hauling was contracted for my move by Trinity Van Lines. Trinity never told us that they were subcontracting out. Not only did they upcharge me over 700, they threatened to keep my belongings and charge me more if I didn't have a Post Office money order. Mind you that I had a bank money order. Ashley is rude and should not work with the public. I feel as if I was scammed by these two companies. Just an awful experience.

Long-distance move from Nashville, TN to New York, NY

Horrible. do Not Use.

This company is egregious!! I hired them through Alliance Van Lines (who now won't answer my calls) and was told REPEATEDLY 3-5 days by all parties. Richard K at Alliance had me sign a moving contract with the verbal promise that it would be 3-5 days, at most 10. Well, ten days has some and gone. They contracted me out to Household Hauling, something they did not explain to me on the phone. Again, by Household Hauling I was told 5-7 days, then when we first called "next week," which has come and gone. Now we are being told "next week" once again, if we are lucky. If we had known what a scam this company would be, we would have moved ourselves. I never felt so deceived and scammed by a company in my entire life. The only saving grace is the people who actually moved us were very nice and efficient - this isn't their fault, but this company is disgusting. Please I am begging you, deliver our things!! My fiance is a doctor and he needs to not sleep on an air mattress and needs his things. I was told on the phone literally "this isn't life and death," but actually it is!! PLEASE I AM BEGGING YOU DELIVER OUR THINGS.

Do Not Hire These People.

We had are things picked up end of June. Promised would come on a certain date; still have not received. When you call, they promise it will come by that next week. It has not. They don't show any type of concern nor do they give any set dates. I will be reporting them today. I have never received this type of service and truly hope this company is reported. This is not okay. People don't have places to sleep, left with their things somewhere else with no set date of delivery. I will be reporting them. This site gives directions on how to do so if you are dealing with the same thing: https://www.sparefoot.com/self-storage/blog/6139-what-to-do-if-your-mover-holds-your-belongings-hostage/.

Long-distance move from Edwardsville, IL to Tampa, FL

Do Not Get Scammed.

Alliance Van Lines contracted my move to Household Hauling. I observed the following red flags and violations:
- Clearly all of the "5 star" reviews on this site are fake
- Alliance was obviously created to sound like Allied Van Lines (a respectable company)
- They do not provide an in home estimate, it is all over the phone so they can purposely up charge you when on site
- Did not clearly disclose the length of time for delivery. Will tell you its 1-10 days, but read the shady language carefully, it says 1-10 days but could just be up to 21 BUSINESS days. That's a month.
- Movers did not arrive in a fleet truck. They arrived in a rented Enterprise truck and "employees" were not in uniform
- Movers hired extra help and they were clearly laborers and not trained movers
- Initial estimate was $4900 but I ended up being charged $6800.
- Only accept cash/money order
- Home office "service" people use last name initials and not a full name
- NEVER disclosed that household items would be placed in storage.

I have been waiting 22 days now for my delivery with little to not communication from Alliance or the brokered moving company. I've been told I could get a delivery next week. They will be very helpful up front but then will absolutely screw you over. The entire experience has put extreme stress on my family. Please do not EVER use this company. I just want my stuff!

Local move from Chicago, IL to New Haven, IL

Awful and not trustworthy at all!

Alliance Van Lines subcontracted Household Hauling for our move. We did not know that Alliance Van Lines was a broker company and since we had to move from Chicago to New Haven in 7 days when Household Hauling showed up we had no choice but to allow them to load our stuff. The estimate that we initially agreed on with Alliance Van Lines was $1950, but Household Hauling charged us over $3400 for the move. Again, since we had no other choice we had to agree with the new contract. The first delivery date was agreed as 6/29/2019, and as of today 7/22/2019, we have not received our stuff. We have been living in an empty apartment ever since and my husband and I are in immense distress. We have contacted Ashley at Household Hauling several times. Ashley is very rude and has no sympathy for what we are going through. My husband pleaded with her to send us our stuff and mentioned that "I know this might not be within your authority, but I would greatly appreciate it if you could send us our stuff", to which she replied, "No it is within my authority". I am 16 weeks pregnant and the emotional distress is putting me and my unborn child at risk. My husband has mentioned all of this to Ashley and the last time he talked with her she denied everything. I do not know what else to do and I am extremely frustrated and mostly worried about the well-being of my unborn child. I blame Alliance Van Lines and Household Hauling if anything happens to us and am ready to take legal actions against them.

Long-distance move from North Carolina to Florida

Horrible Customer Service. Not worth hiring. Buyer Beware!!

Buyer beware!! I had the misfortune of hiring United Moving Experts to assist me in my move from Carolina to Florida. Unbeknownst to me this company is a farce. It is taking up advantage of people under the guise of a moving company when they are in fact simply a facilitator, middleman that takes your money and contracts out your move to an alternate company.
This is the misfortune that I had. After signing the contract with United Moving Experts on the day of my move, United Moving Experts did not come to my home to obtain my belongings as expected, a subcontracted company by the name of Household Hauling came to my home with a simple Enterprise Truck to move me. After having to accept that I had no choice but to move forward with them, as I had to move. I declined for the second time their “30 days free storage to their customers” option. I informed Household Hauling of when I would like my items delivered to Florida. It was not until days later when I contacted Household Hauling they then told me it could take up to 21 days for my belongings to arrive and that my items would, in fact, be placed in storage during that time, which is something that I never agreed to. I explicitly requested that my belongings not be placed in storage. Unfortunately, my items were placed in storage against my request and were delivered to me 23 days after my requested date, without explanation or compensation for the time I was without them. If a 23 day delivery was not bad enough the condition in which I found my belongings was. After meticulously packing my belongings to the extent of even purchasing television box for my flat screen TV, many of my belonging were delivered damaged. The most disappointing loss was my flat screen TV which was cracked and no longer working and resulted in me having to discard it.
This event has caused me a significant amount of stress and grief as I remain in a battle with both United Moving Experts and Household Hauling to be compensated for my losses. To make the situation worse I called Household Hauling and spoke with Ashley, who was rude and inconsiderate and said I have no claim, even left me on hold on purpose for over one hour regardless of the pictures of my damages I had emailed her per her requested. All my communications with Household Hauling has been wet with rude and non-empathetic feedback. They have been absolutely no help to me and have not demonstrated that they have any intention of making the situation right which has forced me to take legal action. I write this to inform anyone who is considering utilizing these companies for a move to take my situation into consideration and possibly look elsewhere. Neither, United Moving Experts and Household Hauling are worth to be hired for any moving.

Please do use Household Hauling. They damage half of my furniture. They sent me paperwork to file my claim of which everyone has 9 months to file claim after delivery. I filed 4 months later. Long-distance move from Chicago, IL to Macon, GA

Increadibly upset and disappointed.

After reading the other reviews I am horrified. We are in the exact same position as many of the other commenters. We started our contract with Alliance and were sub-contracted through Household Hauling. Something we were not aware of at the time of contract. We were informed within 10 business days at the very most over the phone, just like the others. This has not been the case. Whenever we call for a status update, we are asked to call back or told "we will call you 24 hours prior to delivery." I am astonished at this. We have had to spend money getting items that we need because my husband and I both started new jobs and don't have any of our belongings. This has been a huge financial burden and honestly very stressful for our family. I will never recommend Alliance Moving Company or Household Hauling and will encourage people to move themselves if they can over using either of these companies.

Extortionists and Scam Artists.

I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone, in fact have strongly discouraged friends and family to never do business with Household Hauling, nor Alliance Van Lines LLC (who we originally contracted our move thru, and who subsequently unbeknownst to us, subcontracted our move to Household Hauling). All the markers to indicate a moving company is scamming you are present with this company:
* Company does not answer phone with their company name;
* Company shows up in non-labeled, or rental (Enterprise) truck;
* Company will only accept cash or postal money orders;
* Company upcharges you with either additional fees ($75 "Long Carry Fee", $150/per hour wait fee, etc) or demands additional money beyond the original contract for your move;
* Office staff hangs up on you, bullies you, and is generally rude;
* Company holds your belongs in public storage units, without telling you it will be placed in storage.

Our move (Illinois to Florida) started as a $2,700 USD contract thru Alliance Van Lines, LLC who then subcontracted it to Household Hauling. Upon arrive, their movers said we had been "underquoted" and now it would cost $7,000 USD to complete our move, demanding $3,000 cash upfront before beginning to load. After giving them the $2,000 cash I had on hand, they loaded half our goods (arrived at 7pm at night, left at midnight). Next day was contacted by Ashleigh at the "home office" demanding another $1,500 USD to complete the move that day. Was told by movers our stuff would be, as per contract, unloading on the Friday (3 days later). This was a lie. When I contacted "home office", Ashleigh rudely advised me they had up to 21 business days to move our stuff, and we MIGHT have it the following weekend, but no promises. I had to contact the "home office" weekly to find out where our household goods were, repeatedly being hung up on and bullied by "home office". It was also during this wait period that I discovered our goods have never left Illinois, but were being held in a Public Storage unit. FINALLY after 3 weeks, our goods were delivered by a sub-contracted driver (no moving team, just the driver) who wanted an additional $75 "long carry fee" (our driveway is 55 feet, roughly, but he added the backtrack measurement from edge of garage to our front door), as well as an additional $150 per hour fee when I advised I wanted to call my husband. When the driver finally unloaded our goods INTO OUR DRIVEWAY, we found all of our furniture had some kind of scratch, nick, ding or was damaged beyond repair. Additionally, many of our boxes were flattened, squished or retaped. There was mouse damage to some boxes and furniture, to include our piano. During unloading, the driver was often observed to be standing on our boxes and furnishings.

Do not EVER utilize this company.

Long-distance move from Florida to New Jersey

Horrible company to deal with.

My move was sub contracted through American Roadways. Delivery was to be within 3 to 21 days. Well 28 days later I received my belongings. Every box and Rubbermaid tub was smashed broken and so was stuff inside. Foot on TV broken night stand missing completely as well as a box of new blankets and gifts legs broken on sofa table as well as dresser. Decorative tree also missing. The driver could have cared less. Helper was upset but they had to have loaded the smashed stuff from warehouse or they did it themselves. They wouldn't even unload my stuff until I paid them the balance. Never ever trust these people.

This is a Fraudulent Company.

THIS IS A CRIMINAL ENTERPRISE! Trinity Van Lines, who I now also believe to be a fraudulent company, brokered my move and hired this racketeering group of individuals to actually complete the move. I am missing 30-40% of my goods and this "company" is claiming all of my goods have been delivered. I have contacted the company essentially every day since my date of first delivery, October 22, 2019, and have been given the run around and lied to on countless occasions with the company using excuses such as someone sick for an entire week, the owner having a family emergency, only one person being able to look into where my items are locate, etc, but I believe especially after reading other BBB complaints and mymovingreviews.com reviews, this is a criminal enterprise that uses extortion tactics as well as steals people's goods and then likely resells them while forcing unsuspecting customers to go through the arduous process of filing a claim where they will only receive 60 cents per pound of lost or stolen items. All of the red flags, ranging from the pickup truck being unmarked and missing half of its roof to what seems to be the "dispatcher" Ashlie utilizing different voices to claim she is unavailable, now make sense that is largely a fraudulent company working in conjunction with the likely fraudulent broker. The kicker is when the 2nd shipment individuals showed up to deliver ~10% of my goods and indicated they saw my TV in the warehouse only for Ashlie to indicate all of their paperwork (which they will not provide to me) that all goods have been delivered. I have contacted an attorney to seek damages and I am researching the appropriate authority to contact in order for these two companies to be investigated, if they haven't already disappeared by the time this all comes to fruition.

Don’t use these movers!!

Being a military brat and having had a husband who moved frequently in his career, I have moved 34 times. So, I have a huge basis of comparison. There is nothing, I repeat, nothing that I can say positive about these people. It was not only my worst move, it was probably worse than all 33 prior moves combined. They changed the schedule on me. They showed up with a small truck after I told them I needed a 53 foot truck. My load ended up in two trucks. The two trucks were delivered eight weeks apart! They threw stuff in boxes with no wrapping. They packed glass poorly. They used wardrobes to pack items which made them too heavy and causing breakage. The boxes all arrived smashed with fragile boxes upside down and sideways. I have never seen anything to compare. It was also twice the most I had ever paid before and four times their estimate. If you love your possessions, don’t use these people.

Horrific customer service.

I put down a deposit with Kimfrom"insync movers" for a movefrom IL to FL that will take place in June. I was shocked to see "household hauling" on my bank statement as h.h has horrific reviews and nightmare stories. I immediately called to cancel only 2 days after booking. Long story short I had to pretty much fight w Ashley and Kim to confirm a cancel and refund, neither of which they would do. Ashley yelled at me, interrupted me, and kept putting me on hold to the point that I hung up. Neither of them would confirm that the cancel was processed or take the time to talk to me so I disputed the charge with my bank. I then got a demanding email from Kim saying "I need to call them now" and gave me an extension that led to "delightful Ashley". Ashley can hardly form a coherent sentence until I mention I disputed the charge which led her to yelling at me saying she told me she was going to refund yadda yadda(she refused to confirm the cancel or send me documentation stating that she can't email me a cancel confirmation) I told her she was being very unprofessional which led her to slamming down the hold button. I hung up. I am disgusted with how this company does business.. all this to cancel a deposit for a move in June absolutely reaffirms the fact that working with insync movers or household hauling would be a nightmare. Kim was calling me every other day for a month to try and get me to put down a deposit and the minute I ask for a cancel, she is nowhere to be found. Disgusting women who have no business working with the public. I hope no one deals with this company they are a SCAM!

Run if you see this name on the second contract they force you sign. They are scam artists. A month after my "move" which consisted of two men throwing my belongings into boxes (yes throwing) I still have none of my move. Had to contact all authorities involved with interstate movers in order to try to recover. I am now filing theft charges on them. Ashley is an uneducated pawn that will abuse the consumer every chance she gets. Ignore her and press charges! Steer clear they are a scam! USDOT is now involved in helping to locate my belongings. I moved from OH to CA on the 20th of November and still no word despite 22 emails and calls as to when my belongings will be delivered if at all. They are thieves and will force you to sign a new contract apart from the original or they will not load your move. If this happens to you STO right there and ask them to just leave and contact the authorities. Take a pic of the rented van and plate # to supply to the authorities. I so wish I would have thrown them out of my house and cancelled my move at any cost! I would give negative rating if I could!

Rude, inconsiderate and dishonest

This company has had possession of my personal items for nearly a month and cannot provide a delivery ETA or window any longer. The original date was early December and since then I've only gotten the run around from them and their broker, Empire Moving Group. When asked for an update I was met with a bad attitude and told that they would deliver when it was convenient for them. 14 days later and still nothing. They have not called or emailed an update and seem to be annoyed and agitated anytime I call. I understand things happen so I was giving both companies grace but the vicious attitudes and nastiness are not warranted and uncalled for when I'm simply seeking answers. Whatever you do, avoid booking with them or Empire Moving Group. They both are terrible movers if you are anticipating your items within a month of delivery.

I still have not received my goods. I'm 15 days post possible move in and they are not communicating with me. I would advise you do not go with Trinity Van Lines (their Broker) or this moving company. The packers didn't get all my things (leaving behind garden tools and silverware in a drawer). They stored my things somewhere and I've not been given the location except the city. I have one more week to wait and they will not call or answer my emails about when. Trinity Van Lines is no help as the broker. Avoid these two companies. They have charged double and threaten to charge more even after Trinity promised me a small truck to accommodate my circle drive. Household Hauling has doubled the packing materials post estimate. Total scam - took 60 days

They were a day late picking up, and took 60 days to deliver. I called after a week and a half and they hadn't even put me in the system to be delivered. Truck was poorly packed - small items on bottom when delivered. Items broken, Box and table missing. They broke a table that would have had to have taken such force to break, and tried to glue it, so I wouldn't notice. Charged more when they picked up, and refused to credit what the contract said for being late. When calling in they were rude, several times. Hung up on me. I contracted from Ease and they contracted Household. The total thing from start to finish is a scam. From the estimate - which I went over several times, to the insurance, to the handling of my items, to having to live in a house without your things for 60 days!

Take note that these prices may vary from the prices you will get if you contact the company, since these costs are based on reviews data and not the movers themselves. The market averages are generated from reviews on our review sites from the last 3 years. To get more precise moving quotes, please consider using our moving estimator.
